Two friends go to a cinema. They walked to the booth and ordered a ticket each. The ticket prices are $8(admission with popcorn), and $5(admission only). The first friend gave the cashier a $10 note and was asked to choose between the two types of tickets, which he replied, "$8".

However, the second friend paid $10 and the cashier, without hesitation, the cashier gave him a $8 ticket. Why didn’t he ask which ticket he prefers?

The second friend paid with two $5 notes, so the cashier knew that if he wanted a $5 ticket, he would only pay $5. (I said that the second boy paid $10, not that he gave the cashier a $10 note!)

There is a castle with a square moat. It is 2 meters across. You have 2 planks of 1.5 meters in length. You MUST use the planks to cross the moat, there are crocodiles in the water and you are standing on concrete ground. You are trying to get IN to the castle. How do you cross the moat?

Answer

Put one plank across a corner, then balance the second one between the first plank and the ground on the other side of the moat.

But if I can’t, I’ll pay you $100, but if I do, you have to pay me $100.” The magician ended up having to give the boy $100. How did the boy get the money?
